Below is, yes, you guessed it, my homemade aeroponics system!

I went ahead and bought myself a grow tower from my local Menards. Its a simple setup, including 6 individual parts that climb vertically, as you can see, and the water basin at the bottom, otherwise known as the reservoir. The water nutrient solution is pumped down the internal stem of the product, and sprays the roots of the plants every set period of time, which is recorded by a timer by the pump. The water returns to the reservoir and is reused through the nutrient solution and pumped back through the middle stem piece. Below is a thorough diagram of how the system works.
This system seems a little too simple at first glance, but the process is much more complex and pays off in the long run with bountiful, healthy produce. Go down to your local hardware store and look around for parts to create your own tower for a cheaper value, or buy a tower for a couple more bucks for a simple setup like I did! Its fast, easy, and very managable! Cleaning is also an easy process as most towers are piece-by-piece and will only take a few minutes to dismantle. If you call me I may have a few parts laying around that I'm willing to sell. I'll even give you some pointers on how to set it up for the best outcome! Highly recommended for busy gardeners who can really only afford to change the water every once in a while and check nutrient status'. Make sure to check your misters and pumps every couple of weeks too!
